Conservative commentator Bill O’Reilly is asserting that former President Donald Trump is not only innocent of any wrongdoing in the Jeffrey Epstein case but that there is “powerful” evidence to prove it. On his “No Spin News” show, the former Fox News anchor argued that a politically motivated campaign to smear Trump is ignoring key testimony and pushing for the release of unverified information that could harm innocent individuals.
O’Reilly, who describes his style as a “balls-and-strikes” approach, has criticized Trump in the past. But on this issue, he is firm. He believes the case against the former president is nonexistent.
A Politically Motivated Smear Campaign
According to O’Reilly, the effort to link Donald Trump to Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes is a deliberate and ongoing political strategy. He sees no substance behind the allegations. It’s a daily operation.
“Since President Trump was inaugurated in January, the Democratic Party has tried to smear him with Epstein and to tie Mr. Trump to crimes that Jeffrey Epstein committed,” O’Reilly stated. “They do it every day, all day. That’s what they want to do. There is no evidence that that happened. None.”
The veteran broadcaster pointed to a recent example where he felt the press overreacted. He claims Democrats on the House Committee on Oversight leaked emails that supposedly suggested Trump “knew about the girls.” O’Reilly was not impressed. He reviewed the documents himself and dismissed them entirely.
“I looked at the emails — nothing there,” he said. “There’s just nothing there. And even worse, there is innuendo that could get people hurt.”
The Risk of Releasing Unverified Files
The conversation around the Epstein files has been intense, with many demanding their full and immediate release. O’Reilly recounted a March meeting where he discussed this very topic with Donald Trump. The former president asked if he should just release all the files. O’Reilly’s advice was cautious and conditioned on verification.
“I said, ‘Yeah, if they’re verified. But if they’re not verified — if it’s rumor and the Justice Department hasn’t nailed it down … ,’” he explained. “Remember, two Justice Departments: Merrick Garland’s, and the Trump one under William Barr. Those things have been investigated like crazy.”
He warned Trump that releasing unconfirmed rumors would be a mistake. “If there’s evidence that somebody was hanging with Epstein … but if this is just rumor — no. People get hurt.” O’Reilly believes this is precisely what “Trump haters” want: a chaotic data dump, regardless of the consequences or the impact on due process, which he feels is “really under fire in this country.”
Citing ‘Powerful’ Exculpatory Evidence
The core of O’Reilly’s defense of Trump rests on what he calls “exculpatory evidence” from the three most significant witnesses in the Epstein case. He argues their combined testimony creates more than enough reasonable doubt to dismantle any potential case against the former president.
O’Reilly claims the following key figures have all stated Trump was not involved in any criminal activity:
- Ghislaine Maxwell: Epstein’s convicted associate.
- Virginia Giuffre: A prominent survivor and accuser in the case.
- Alan Dershowitz: Epstein’s former lawyer.
“All three said Trump wasn’t involved with anything untoward. All three,” O’Reilly emphasized. He believes this is so conclusive that any legal challenge would fail instantly. “It would get thrown out in 10 seconds.”
Dershowitz’s Account and Media Coverage
To support his point, O’Reilly played a clip of Alan Dershowitz detailing a specific conversation he had with Jeffrey Epstein while negotiating a plea deal. Dershowitz explained that as part of his legal duty, he asked Epstein to name anyone who may have had improper relationships.
“I went through a variety of names, including Donald Trump,” Dershowitz said in the clip. “And Jeffrey Epstein said, ‘No, Trump didn’t do anything wrong.’ So what more do you need?”
Despite this testimony, O’Reilly slammed the press for running “wild” with the story, dedicating significant airtime to what he considers a baseless narrative. He broke down the coverage statistics from major news networks to illustrate his point:
- ABC ‘World News Tonight’: 4 minutes 23 seconds
- NBC ‘Nightly News’: 4 minutes 34 seconds
- ‘CBS Evening News’: 2 minutes 7 seconds
- CNN (estimated): 1 hour 10 minutes
- MSNBC (estimated): 2 hours 9 minutes
- Fox News: 5 minutes
For Bill O’Reilly, the discrepancy in coverage and the dismissal of key witness statements are proof of a media ecosystem determined to damage Donald Trump, regardless of the facts presented.
