The Iconic Bacon Roll Returns!

A wave of nostalgia and culinary delight is sweeping through easyJet flights across the UK, as the airline has announced the highly anticipated return of its beloved Bacon Roll. This iconic inflight staple is once again available, much to the satisfaction of its devoted fanbase.

Beyond this much-celebrated comeback, easyJet has also generously unveiled a comprehensive overview of its customers’ most popular inflight cravings over the past year. This fascinating data reveals a delightful tapestry of shared favourites that unite travellers across Europe, while simultaneously highlighting some distinct and tasty national preferences.

The British are undeniably fond of a comforting ham and cheese toastie. Indeed, over the past year, easyJet served a remarkable 1.3 million of these on flights departing from the UK. To put this into perspective, this impressive quantity would stretch from London all the way to Birmingham, underscoring the immense popularity of this warm and satisfying option.

Furthermore, the United Kingdom’s reputation as a nation of tea lovers is emphatically upheld. Twinings English Breakfast Tea proved to be a consistently high-flying choice for travellers originating from the UK. In fact, customers sipped on over 2.1 million cups of this classic brew, a staggering amount that could fill more than 850 Olympic-sized swimming pools! This clearly demonstrates the enduring appeal of a good cuppa at 30,000 feet.

Interestingly, travellers from Spain have also shown a pronounced affinity for tea. It emerged as the second most sought-after beverage after water, perhaps indicating a growing appreciation for the British tradition. However, it is worth noting that the British still consume a staggering 29 times more tea than their Spanish counterparts, maintaining their distinct lead in this regard.

Across the channel, passengers flying from France and the Netherlands have demonstrated a strong penchant for easyJet’s Croque Monsieur. This classic comfort food clearly resonates with travellers, proving to be a hit at cruising altitude. The sheer volume of Croque Monsieurs ordered is so substantial that if they were all piled one on top of another, they would indeed surpass easyJet’s typical cruising altitude.

Meanwhile, those embarking on journeys from Portugal exhibit a clear enthusiasm for snacking. The consumption of Pringles was so significant that the cumulative height of the consumed cans would reach the height of Lisbon’s Cristo Rei statue numerous times over. Similarly, travellers from Italy also favour Pringles as their inflight snack of choice, often pairing them with a refreshing glass of San Pelligrino sparkling water.

Fundamentally, coffee and water stand out as the ultimate, indispensable travel essentials. Costa Americano and Evian Still Water consistently rank as bestsellers on flights across every nation easyJet serves. This ubiquity reinforces the notion that whether one is en route to a relaxing beach holiday or a crucial business meeting, a revitalizing caffeine boost and adequate hydration are universally recognised as top priorities. Coca-Cola, too, has cemented its status as a universal crowd-pleaser, particularly among travellers from Germany, where its popularity is especially pronounced.

Russell Braterman, easyJet’s Inflight Retail Director, commented on these findings: “We are always looking for ways to enhance our customers’ onboard experience, which includes providing them with great food and drink choices to enjoy during their flight, no matter where and when they are travelling. We always listen to our customers’ feedback which is why we’ve brought the bacon roll back to our CAFE menu for UK flights from today.”

These insights, gathered from onboard sales across the UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands during 2024–2025, offer a compelling glimpse into the diverse and delightful inflight preferences of easyJet passengers.
