Google has announced the expansion of the ‘Preferred Sources‘ feature in Top Stories on Google Search. The feature is now available in Canada, for all English-language users, but will roll out to all supported languages earlier next year.

‘Preferred Sources’ lets you customize ‘Top Stories’ in Search to see more news from your favourite media outlets — so if you’re reading this, don’t forget to make MobileSyrup a ‘Preferred Source.’

Google says that this feature has received positive feedback when it rolled out in the U.S. earlier this year. Additionally, the company says there are a wide range of preferred sources with about 90,000 unique sources, local blogs and bigger outlets.

And for publishers, Google claims if users mark your site as a Preferred Source, they will tend to click twice as much as average.
